The stellate ganglion is a group of nerves in your neck on either side of your voice box. These nerves have specialized functions and are connected to our "fight or flight" response.
A stellate ganglion block (SGB) is an injection of local anesthetic to numb the sympathetic nerves, thereby effectively reseting the "fight or flight" response.
SGBs are not a new procedure, in fact they have been used since the 1920s. However, SGBs were not used to treat PTSD and other traumas until very recently. They are now becoming an increasingly popular alternative treatment for trauma.
Research shows immense relief for trauma patients that receive an SGB in conjunction with therapy.

Research on the psychiatric benefits of SGBs has primarily been focused on PTSD. According to the National Library of Medicine, the first documented case of an SGB treatment for PTSD was in 1990.
In 2016, a comprehensive study was published, reviewing the incredible evidence-based relief PTSD patients experienced from an SGB since 1990.
Following this study, SGBs have become increasingly recognized among the medical community as a break-through treatment for PTSD.
While less research is available on the effects of stellate ganglion blocks for anxiety patients, studies still strongly indicate they are a highly effective treatment for anxiety.
By resetting the "fight or flight" response, patient's hyperactivity, emanating from the sympathetic nervous system, can be temporarily halted. As a result, patients do not experience the stress responses their anxiety would typically spur.
According to data published in the National Library of Medicine, the first SGB used to treat a psychiatric disorder was performed on a depression patient in 1947.
Depression patients experience similar hyperactivity stemming from their sympathetic nervous system to PTSD and anxiety patients. For this reason, SGBs are becoming an increasingly popular treatment for depression.
A recent study published to the National Library of Medicine strongly indicates SGBs to be an effective treatment for Long Covid.
It is theorized the lingering hyperactivity patients experience from Long Covid can be reset, and thereby, temporarily or permanently shut off with an SGB treatment.
In addition to the previously mentioned conditions, we provide SGBs for a wide spectrum of trauma-related issues, including: challenges with focus and concentration, disrupted sleep patterns, distressing intrusive memories, emotional numbness, feelings of isolation and avoidance, heightened hypervigilance, heightened irritability, impulsive behaviors, memory impairment, panic episodes, postpartum depression, and sexual dysfunction.
